The New Villas Down in the Valley

Construction is almost complete on the five new villas which are located in

the valley below the house and Dragon Villa and Pool. There are ninety

steps which go down to the area. Construction was very difficult and

involved tremendous manpower to carry all the equipment and materials

down those ninety steps. At this point I do not have any photos of the

newly completed villas. The photographs in this entry are all of the early

construction and more photos will be added as they are obtained from

Wayan. Notice in some of the photographs the metal shoot which was

used to pour cement from the top of the hill down to the construction

area.

The New Temple Area

As you have seen earlier in the blog a temple was built early on in the resort construction.

Our Manager, Wayan Sutama, is a very devout Hindu. It was mentioned earlier that the

mountain upon which the resort is being built is considered sacred by the few villages in

the area. The villagers have been allowed access to the temple and many religious

celebrations have been performed there. Wayan has become a Hindu priest and

many of the villagers come to him for advice or ceremonies. Wayan decided to build another area of

smaller temples on the property. Each temple has its own meaning or function. For example, one

of the temples has been built for my son, David, who passed away in 2016. His spirit often resides

in this temple. Each day offerings are placed in his and the other temples. It was here that I

experienced a vision that changed my belief that there was nothing after death. Following are

photographs which show some of the construction of the temples and some of the completed

temples as they are now.

And Now We Need a Place to Eat!

Because of the location of our resort we needed to be able to provide meals on site. We wanted to make a very nice restaurant that would draw both locals and tourists from the area. We had space above the kitchen building and right next to the house that would give us the location and right amount of space we needed. Below are photographs of the construction and the completed restaurant. The floor is small stone mosaic all done by hand. The furniture is all teak. We built a dumbwaiter that would go from the kitchen right up to the restaurant. A professional chef was brought in to teach menu planning and meal preparation. We feel we have a very beautiful place to eat any time of the day and evening. Let’s look at a few photos.

….and then there was a spa!

Initially there had been no discussion of having a spa.  There was not a lot of space so it just didn’t get into the initial plans.  As the small villa was being built, Wayan realized that indeed there was space.  The plan just needed Wayan’s great architectural ideas to take shape.  He is in the process now of putting in a spa under the veranda of the small villa.  I was quite skeptical at first, but it is shaping up to look like it will be a very nice space for a relaxing massage or soak in the whirlpool.  Here are some pictures that show things taking shape.  There will be more to follow as the space is completed.  Enjoy!!
